HAPPY BIRTHDAY CIEL!!!

I had hoped to have this ready to go for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's release date but I'm a little late... that's ok!
J, Ciel and I went to the mall and snagged a double pack. I picked Violet, of course. I've been looking forward to the games for months. The last few days before release, I was eagerly refreshing the clock counter I'd made, watching the hours tick by with eager anticipation.

I made every effort to dodge spoilers (lol, more on that later) and when we got the games my roommates and I were still unspoiled on the starter evolutions and the majority of the Pokemon in the game. To say that this was a magical journey would be an understatement.

Me and my sister shared the double pack (as we always do). She picked Scarlet and I picked Violet! Not pictured are our preorder bonuses.

When I checked in with some of my friends I heard that some people were really upset with the game because of the glitches and things like that. I think my game only crashed three or four times which admitedly isn't amazing but the game is SO good otherwise that I can't care about the performance lag or whatever. We can hope that Game Freak will patch it out... (yeah, not holding my breath here).

I picked Sprigatito for my starter. I reset for a female which did not take too long. Less than fifteen minutes for sure.

Meet Carnation, my partner Pokemon and the first party member on my team. This is our first video together!

On the day of release, J and Ciel had to do some homework so we didn't get to play a ton until that evening. It was so awesome though! The entire weekend we played a LOT (and I mean like 20+ hours a lot). Thankfully we had put in the effort to grind on our schoolwork so that we had more time to Get Our Game On....

While it is hard to review the game as a whole (I have completed the gym challenge currently but not the Elite Four), I feel that it is the strongest entry in the franchise since Sun and Moon. Arguably, it is a better game than Sun and Moon, mostly in terms of actual gameplay mechanics (I do sincerely wish the complete National Dex would return). I do prefer the story of Sun and Moon but in terms of gameplay Scarlet and Violet win. There is a really strong rhythm of gameplay in Scarlet and Violet, it is easy to lose yourself in it. You are free to explore and do what you feel like in the order you feel like doing it. Additionally, I aprpeciate the new breeding mechanics. Hatching eggs is a breeze. I did not realize how much I wanted AFK egg breeding until it was presented to me. LOL.

There were many surprises. Numerous times we gasped, shrieked, or straight up squee'd at a new Pokemon we found. Or an insane evolution. Don't get me started on the Dolphin. What were they THINKING!!!

So far I have found two shiny Pokemon. It is so strange that they do not sparkle in the overworld. I've grown used to that with games like Let's Go and Legends so it was pretty weird. At least you can SEE that they are shiny. So it is up to you, the player, to slow down and investigate your surroundings. Makes me wish I had a bigger TV, it can be difficult to see on the native screen of the switch. I am mostly playing it handheld.

Anyway, today we celebrate Ciel's birthday so we might not be playing as much Pokemon as we have been the past few days. I stopped myself from challenging the Elite Four because I really don't want this game to end! It's just too good. I'm working on breeding a new team from scratch and then I'll challenge the Elite Four as a finale to the adventure, with my shiny team in tow. I'm racing my sister to see which one of us has a cat that sparkles first!

I'll edit this post more later (Future Sephi here, you did not edit this post. LOL) but I just wanted to have a little something here for now. Thanks for reading~!
